Moving in the darkness

I don’t intend for this title to sound as daunting as I think it might. There is a power in the darkness. There is a power in not knowing. There is a power in uncertainty. What does one do when a light in a room goes off? They freeze, don’t they? Stop moving… because you no longer can see your surroundings… can no longer interact with the world around you properly… it is clear why it is scary… but why is it also powerful?

I guess I should say that the power is optional. It is there, but it must be unlocked, tapped into. And how does one tap into the darkness? One must move in it. Action is required. Stillness of body can paralyze the mind. Not knowing where one might step or what one might bump into while still choosing to do so is powerful. Allowing our desires, however crazy or absurd they might seem, to direct us—even when they direct us into darkness. Could walking into the darkness direct us on a more genuine path than one that is blasted by the noonday sun?
